Hurricane When Do Texas Hurricanes Occur?

Since 80% of the North Atlantic Hurricanes form from June through October, hurricane season is declared from June 1 to November 30. The months when storms are most frequent on the Texas coast are August and September. Table 8 is a list of the deadliest storms in Texas since 1844. Table 9 is a list of the most intense storms in Texas from 1900-1989.

Recorded storms that have affected Texas are listed in Appendix 1. This list has been compiled from many sources and includes tropical storms as well as hurricanes.
