Students Learn about Heat and Hurricanes at Weather Camp

HOUSTON - While many Texas students on summer break have complained about
the heat, many have beat the heat during June and July by attending Weather
Research Center's Weather Camp.  Over 100 students participated in this
year's camp which featured the how's and why's of the weather, as well as
emphasizing weather safety.  The various sessions included titles such as:
Weather Works, Tornado Alley, Hurricane Central and Cyclone World.
Unfortunately, the sessions have ended since Weather Research Center's world
wide forecast operations center is about to enter the peak of hurricane
season, which will keep staff meteorologists quite busy.

Weather Camp is one of the many educational programs conducted by the Center.
Plans and fundraising are currently being conducted to develop The Weather
Museum which will house future Weather Camps.  Tours of the forecast
operation center are now available by appointment and memberships are still
available for The Weather Museum.  Companies or business looking for
opportunities to underwrite many of the educational programs are encouraged
