THE WEATHER MUSEUM AND EDUCATION CENTER NEARING ITS GOAL

Houston - Only $7,000 are needed for the Weather Research Center to reach its goal of raising the matching funds need to meet the $50,000 challenge grant made by Houston Endowment, Inc. So far, the Center has raised a little over $43,000 in donations and pledges.

"We are so close but we need Houston's help in meeting our first year's goal," said Director Jill Hasling. The Center is offering founding memberships of various levels to help raise the remaining funds by the June 10th deadline.

The Weather Museum will be a spectacular place for visitors of all ages. The visitors will be able to see historical weather equipment and data, as well as learn about weather safety through hurricane, tornado, flood and other weather-related exhibits. Visitors will have the opportunity to make their own forecasts on video, as well as interact with computers to better understand the weather.

With the goal within sight, the Center is asking the people of Houston to help make their Weather Museum and Education Center a reality. For more information about contributing or becoming a member, please call the Weather Research Center, 529-3076.
