Purpose:
The Weather Research Center was established
as a non-profit educational and research organization under the direction
of Jill F. Hasling and Dr. John C. Freeman both Certified Consulting Meteorologists
and fellows of the American Meteorological Society. The Center provides
education through its research and services in meteorology and oceanography.
These services include worldwide weather forecasting, environmental and
climatological research, literature and data surveys, internships for meteorologists,
and computer modeling. Ms. Hasling and Dr. Freeman are dedicated
to the advancement of the profession of meteorology and oceanography through
education of the young professional by developing and offering summer internships
and other educational training opportunities for students who have a distinct
interest in the weather. Through the Center's websites, newsletter
and press releases tours and conferences, the staff is continuously striving
to improve public awareness of the weather.
