Weather Research Center

WRC TALK/TOUR INFORMATION

WRC meteorologists give many talks during the year to classrooms, civic groups, industry groups and senior citizens. All topics of the weather are covered from hurricane safety, marine meteorology, and Weather Labs.

Guided tours of the Weather Research Center include walk-throughs of the Center's library, data base and the forecast operations area. Discussions include weather observations and measurements, storms, hurricanes, forecasting, etc.

Persons wishing a tour of the Center should be aware that:

Tours are given Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Reservations are required at least two weeks in advance.
A confirmation letter is required.
There is a $5 admission per person.
A maximum of 25 people are allowed in the building.
Children ages seven and above are recommended for the tour.
This is a workplace and other people work here, therefore visitors must be quiet and courteous. Touching of computers and other equipment is strictly prohibited.

Please be aware that an event CAN AND WILL BE CANCELLED at any time should weather become a factor.

TALKS

If a group is too large for a tour, a meteorologist can go out to a school for a presentation. This includes a slide presentation as well as hand-outs. Since the meteorologists are doing this on their own time, schools are requested to make a donation - which will be used to fund the Weather Museum and education Center.

For more information, please call the Center.
